Egyptian National Commission for Unesco Held an inventories of intangible heritage Workshop in Damietta  in the implementation of the third phase of the project Mediterranean living heritage Medlihir which involves all of Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and supervised by the European Union and the management of heritage immaterial UNESCO and are organizing by Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO
This workshop aims to preserving Egyptian intangible heritage who legacy generations for centuries and eras long in Damietta, and became a distinctive for it and expressing their identity, and Egypt in desperate need of documenting intangible heritage so as not to be attributed to those who have no right to it, and from this spirit Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO took attention logged this heritage.
 
The Egyptian National Commission has chosen Damietta to start its program where Damietta is the first Egypt's window on the Mediterranean coast and the excellent location RAS-ELBAR who is in the meeting point of the Mediterranean sea and the Nile, also the wealth of rural communities and urban, rural and bedouin. This cultural diversity makes it rich tangible and intangible heritage which 
The completion of this project will be the participation of the sons province of Damietta and adjacent areas as well as those interested in maintaining the cultural heritage of Egypt distinctive territory Damietta It is worth mentioning that UNESCO adopted in 2003 International Convention for the safeguarding of the cultural heritage immaterial signed by Egypt 2005 and identified convention areas heritage immaterial in subjects traditions and forms of expression verbal arts and traditions performances social practices, rituals and celebrations knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe skills associated with the craft and traditional arts and these areas are the same areas Folklore Category Egyptian and Mediterranean heritage project comes as part of District application of this Conventionencouraged to monitor their heritage and interest in it as a link in the chain for the sustainable development of this country
