Within the framework of  UNESCO participation program and in collaboration with the National Program of Combating AIDS, and the Ministry of Population and Health in Egypt, The Egyptian National Commission held a workshop on raising awareness of AIDS for prevention on Sunday 4th May, 2oo8, Under the auspices of Dr. Hany Helal the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This workshop comes within the context of the Commission's responsibilities in implementing UNESCO programs to ensure an affective response to the international initiative on AIDS and to achieve some sort of integration in between the preventive activities, treatment and awareness among the youth. The targets of the workshop are:-
 -Providing the trainees with new skills and experiences concerning AIDS.
-Spreading awareness among the trainees about the related health services.
-Creating and enabling environment to reduce infection.
-Raising awareness about the transmission of diseases and means of care to be provided for the infected on the psychological and social scale.
-Supporting the efforts exerted for prevention.
-Integrating national policies (educational, media and religious) and awareness programs to avert infection.
 
- Experts from the Ministry of Population and Health (the National programs  for combating AIDS) ,educational professionals in the field of educational curriculum development ,social and psychological professionals, -Islamic activists lectured and participated in the seminar.
