Regional Conference for Arab experts in the Middle East and North Africa on the victims of human trafficking

The Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO will participate in the regional conference for Arab experts in the Middle East and North Africa on the victims of human trafficking, which is organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Social affairs and the international migration organization under auspices of Mrs. Suzan Mubarak – the first lady- from 14to16 December 2008 in the national council for women. In the opening session, Mrs. Mubarak will launch the Arabic version of the international migration organization guide on the direct assistance for the victims of human trafficking. The conference focuses on the importance of assisting the victims of human trafficking which became an important issue worldwide. The sessions will discuss the means to protect the victims' rights as provided in the UN's principles and guidance on Human Rights and human trafficking. It will also reflect the role of the private sector in protecting the victims 'rights on the light of the ethical principles; concluded in the round table held in Athens; in 2006 and the international mechanisms of protecting such rights and presenting national work plans in that regard. It'll also throw light on the successful experiences in sheltering victims in the Middle East and North Africa and the regional cooperation carried out in that regard.
